Re-introducing - Patricia Coelho

Patricia Coelho is a dedicated smallholder farmer in Brazil, in the city of Espírito Santo do Pinhal. Her family has grown coffee on their land for over 100 years. She took over the farm from her father in 2018 and now runs it alongside her son, Pedro, who is studying to become an agronomist. A true generational operation, built on long-term quality and steady improvement.

In 2022, we travelled to Brazil for our first ever trip to origin. Patricia’s farm, Fazenda Santo Antonio, was the very first farm we visited. We’d been sourcing and roasting her coffee since 2020, so starting our trip there felt significant. It marked the beginning of a deeper understanding of the work, decisions and detail behind the coffees we buy, and provided a rare full-circle moment: meeting in person the people whose coffee we roast back in Leicester.

Patricia’s coffee quality has continued to go from strength to strength in the years since. She is widely respected as a talented and hard-working producer, consistently investing in quality and refining her processing year after year. Despite the challenges faced across recent Brazilian harvests, her latest crops have been of excellent quality — a clear reflection of her focus, resilience and long-term commitment to improvement.

When offered a very small amount of Patricia’s coffee from a recent harvest, we jumped at the chance to have it back at the roastery. Available in extremely limited numbers, we are excited for you to try a coffee from a producer we have such admiration for, and who’s coffee continues to stand up to our lofty memories!

We’re heading back to Brazil this year and can’t wait to visit farms like Patricia’s again, places that remind us why this industry is so rewarding. Spending time at origin, seeing the work first-hand, and building relationships with the people behind the coffee brings a depth of meaning to what we do every day back at the roastery. It’s a perspective that’s hard to replicate from afar.
